We had the wonderful opportunity to chat with one of the creators of Kids Organic, Revi, to bring you more information on the company and why you should be dressing your babe in their apparel! They are truly amazing. We are all about the health and wellness of our children and yours, so we are so very happy to be sharing such a wonderful company with you!

{1} Tell us about your business, Kids Organic.

Kids Organic designs and manufacturers stylish children's clothes made with 100% certified organic cotton that is dyed with sustainably harvested plants, and sewn in a socially responsible environment. We currently create clothes for children from newborn to 3 years.

We are serious about keeping the integrity of our product. We care deeply about the health and wellness of our planet, our producers and the children who wear our clothes. Not only do we use only 100% certified organic cotton, we work work hands-on with our production partners to bring age old dying techniques that work in harmony with nature – and that are 100% chemical free — into the making of clothes for a modern lifestyle.

Our mission is to make functional stylish children’s clothes without unnecessarily taxing our environment and exposing our little ones to more toxins. We want to make organic chemical-free clothing affordable and available to as many families and children worldwide.

{2} When did you know you wanted to have your own clothing line?

When our daughter was born we took a good part of her first year off to spend time with her and think about new businesses we could start that would support a more family-oriented lifestyle. Nicolay had been a super early eco-entrepreneur and I had started in 2003 to realign my business consulting focus specifically to help green businesses.

Our time off did not go exactly as planned. Both of our fathers were unexpectedly diagnosed and died of cancer within two months after our daughter was born and Nicolay got severely ill. The fact that these sicknesses and deaths could so easily be attributed to the toxic stressful context of our modern world, reinforced our desire to develop a business that could have a positive impact on the health and wellness of the earth and the life on it.

We found ourselves in Bali for what we thought would be a two month recuperation but were so were inspired by how much the Balinese adore babies – they believe they are of the god world and are honored to be in their presence – that we decided to stay in Bali with our 7 month old daughter, and see if we could build a business that would allow us to be based there for a while.

We had heard of a natural dyer that used sustainably harvested plants and fixed the dye without any chemicals so it seemed their was a unique opportunity to fill an emerging interest in more healthy clothing alternatives. I had been a consultant for many leading apparel industry businesses and had always had an appreciation for interesting fashion design – what might be called "classic with a twist." Chemical-free clothing was a particular health concern for Nicolay when dressing our own daughter. At the same time, we were not really sure if there was a market for it…  So we decided to work with the dyer and develop a small line of clothes that combined the characteristics of our favorite baby items and additional features that we wish we had had, and emailed our friends to see who was interested…. Next thing you know our small line was expanded into 6 unique collections and is now increasingly available in stores worldwide.

{3} Do you have a favorite item or best seller?

Our personal favorite item is the Roll Up Pant, which is in the Teddy Brown Bear, Jolly Green Bean and Romp & Roll Collections. Its the perfect pant for active babies and toddlers as they become proficient crawlers, walkers and runners. The bottom and knees are reinforced with a darker color fabric so that they look great no matter where your babe has been playing. And, the legs snap up securely on both sides, keeping little ones safe as they become more proficient with their bodies.

Other best sellers are our one piece Dayjamas – the perfect pjs for a night on the town. And our Sleeveless Overalls have also been a big hit.

{4} What is up next for Kids Organic?

We are currently working hard to make our clothing more available in retail stores in the United States.

Thanks again to Rachel Florio-Urso for helping us connect with this inspiring company and thanks to Revi for taking the time to answer our questions! We love their Roll Up Pants just as much as they do! The idea is genius and the fact that they are organic simply tickles us pink!!
